This is Wallem
Since pioneering the concept of third-party ship management at the beginning of the last century, Wallem Group has become one of the most experienced providers of technology-driven maritime solutions in the world. Our success and industry-leading track record are driven by three core values: to deliver quality through safety; transparency through technology; and service through support.
Who we are
We offer services to support the complete lifecycle of a vessel from newbuilding supervision to end-of-life recycling guidance. Our extensive portfolio includes technical management, crewing, training, ship agency, commercial services, procurement and lifeboat safety solutions.
We give world-class support to shipowners by bringing our customer-centric and transparent approach to all aspects of fleet operation. Leveraging in-house expertise to the full, we combine technology and forward-thinking to ensure the highest degree of safety, technical, and commercial performance.
As with everything we do, we aim to add value and enhance our service offering.
Wallem exploits modern technology and uses the latest analytical techniques to make objective decisions to enhance asset performance and manage risk. This enables us to deliver quality maritime services that improve efficiency without compromising safety or endangering the environment.
Wallem is the first maritime solutions company to fully embrace digitalization by introducing company-wide systems that streamline interactions with customers and improve transparency by simplifying workflows, boosting responsiveness and ensuring consistency.
Shipping faces an ever more challenging commercial environment, compliance requirements and a fast-evolving regulatory landscape. Since its founding, Wallem has continually adapted to provide clarity and leadership in times of change.
Today, we continue to take the approach that has always defined the Wallem brand: by embracing novel technology and seizing new opportunities. Wallem stands ready to support you whatever the future holds.
Wallem takes pride in its 7,000 seafarers and 800 shore-based employees, in its inclusive employment policy and its commitment to equal opportunities. Day in day out, seafarers and colleagues ashore work together to get the job done. We repay their loyalty by supporting them wherever we can.
We make sure they always have the right tools and technology at their disposal, have the right training to use them effectively, and benefit from the right opportunities to fulfil their ambitions.
The welfare of Wallem seafarers is an essential part of our safety culture as, ultimately, caring for our staff's wellbeing means our staff will care for the wellbeing of your assets.
Wallem is a modern company built on traditions. It was founded in Shanghai in 1903. Founder Norwegian shipbroker Haakon Wallem bought his first ship, the SS Oscar II, a 4,750-dwt sail-steamer. By 1908 the company was managing two sisterships in the coal trade along the Chinese coast, making Wallem – in effect – the world's first third-party ship manager.
Today, Wallem operates globally. Our portfolio of services has similarly expanded to meet the changing needs of clients.
In addition to full management of tankers, bulk carriers and vehicles carriers, we offer select services to cruise ships, naval vessels, project cargo, container ships, heavy lift and breakbulk projects.
