Wallem Ship Agency was proud to handle drydock support for the cruise ship, Pacific Dawn in Singapore from 18th-28th February.

The vessel, which is operated by P&O Cruises Australia and home ported in Brisbane, was in drydock for scheduled maintenance and to undergo a huge renovation project which included a complete top-to-bottom refurbishment and the installation of two new waterparks onboard. As Asia specialists with more than 25 years of experience in drydock support for cruise ships, P&O turned to Wallem for this challenging project.

The Wallem team handled dry dock support for the project at Sembawang Shipyard. This included embarkation and disembarkation of crew (110 crew signed off and 150 signed on) and contractors (more than 700), shuttle service to and from the ship, provision of stores and spares (and clearance through customs), loading of renovation materials onboard (30 containers worth), small repairs, renewal of ship’s Certificates and Licenses, etc.

General Manager for Wallem Ship Agency in Singapore, Frankie Tan says, “Every drydocking is challenging but this one particularly so due to the sheer volume of numbers of people and materials required and the very tight schedule. The completion date for repairs was not confirmed until the last minute so it required seamless arrangements with all the parties involved to ensure that the vessel was able to secure a berth at the cruise terminal after leaving the shipyard.”

Thanks to the Wallem team’s efficiency, good teamwork and calm professionalism in the face of pressure, the dry-docking project went smoothly. Wallem’s service was well recognized and much appreciated by P&O who thanked the team for the excellent job done.
