The largest cruise ship to visit Asia, Quantum of the Seas, was warmly welcomed today by Wallem in Singapore as she arrived at the Marina Bay Sands Cruise Terminal for the first time.

Wallem Ship Agency is the ship agent for the 18-deck, 168,666 gt vessel’s calls in Singapore and Hong Kong, providing the Royal Caribbean Cruise ship with all port husbandry services from pre-planning of berthing arrangements, through the port operations and formalities such as immigration clearance.

“Pre-planning this visit was the most important aspect of our service,” explained Frankie Tan, Director Wallem Shipping Singapore, “and the berthing plan was a priority because of the size of the vessel.

“We coordinated with Royal Caribbean Cruises and the terminal to be 110 percent sure that on berthing the passenger bridges match between the ship and the terminal, and all the necessary doors can operate for loading and discharging the baggage, provisions, garbage and so on.

“We will be holding our breath a little as we watch her berth, but we are confident that all the planning will pay off and the visit will be a success.

“Other than the berthing plan, all other arrangements are the same as other cruise ships visiting Singapore. We arrange baggage handling on and off the ships, garbage removal, loading of stores and provisions, the porters and stevedores and much more in between.”

The Wallem Singapore team is well-versed in the needs of the cruise lines visiting the lion city, hosting 159 calls in the 2014-15 season. Wallem Ship Agency is proud to be the ship agency of choice for international cruise lines in Asia, supporting all of the major lines in the ports of East Asia.

The Quantum of the Seas will stay overnight in Singapore on Thursday 11 June, disembarking guests on the 12th and welcoming another group in the afternoon in preparation for its 3-night round trip from Singapore to Port Klang/Kuala Lumpur, followed by a 9-night cruise on June 15 from Singapore to Shanghai, calling at Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong and Xiamen.

In Hong Kong on 20 June Wallem will again welcome the Quantum of the Seas as her ship agent.
