A total of 66 Wallem-managed vessels were awarded AMVER Certificates of Merit for the year 2017.

The Automated Mutual Assistance Vessel Rescue System (AMVER) is a voluntary global ship reporting system aimed at giving assistance to persons in distress at sea. The system, which was set up in 1958, is sponsored by the United States Coast Guard and is used worldwide by search and rescue authorities.

The certificates were presented to Group Technical Director Ioannis Stefanou at an awards ceremony held during the Hong Kong Shipowners Association (HKSOA) annual luncheon on 29th October. Wallem also received recognition for 15 years’ continuous participation in the system, with a special plaque presented by Coast Guard Attaché Captain Kathleen A. Duignan.

Special mention go to the Telleviken and the Aphrodite Leader which were presented with gold and purple pennants for five and ten consecutive years of participation respectively.

Thanks go to our crew whose dedication to safe and efficient operations and unwavering commitment to saving lives at sea have made this recognition possible.
