Wallem Shipping now provides full port agency services in Vietnam, with the launch today of Wallem Shipping Vietnam Company Ltd. The new company has been formed through a joint venture between Wallem & Co., Ltd. and Hanoi Maritime Holding Company (Marina Hanoi).

As a full agent, Wallem will have direct control of port agency services, providing on the ground services to clients with a combination of local knowledge and commercial acumen.

Marina Hanoi offers a solid local network and strong ties with local authorities from its six offices across Vietnam.

Managing Director of Wallem Shipping (Thailand) Limited, Ashley Mawby, has led the talks in the formation of the joint venture with the General Director of Marina Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Quang Phuc.

“Wallem has had a representative office in Vietnam for more than 19 years, and it is the right time for us to increase the level of services we offer to our clients because we see the important role the country will play in the future of shipping in the region,” Mr. Mawby said.

“Along with the direct agency service in Vietnam, our clients can take advantage of Wallem’s extensive network of agency offices throughout Asia and the other services Wallem offers, including management, broking and IT services.”

General Director of Marina Hanoi, Mr. Phuc said Marina Hanoi is constantly looking for opportunities to develop their services in shipping.

“To cooperate with Wallem in this venture is a good opportunity for us,” Mr Phuc said.

“As a local agency, Wallem will provide full agency services to clients, including cargo forwarding to locations inland.”
