The Fleet Personnel Dept occupies a unique position within WSM because of our daily interaction at all levels with all departments, regional offices and clients – we really get to know our partners and invest large amounts of time and effort in strengthening these relationships.

Through offices in Hong Kong and Mumbai we administer the Fleet Personnel functions for our 6000 seafarers, either onboard or ashore.

This includes: -
- Recruitment and Screening, Shorebased Training, Pre-employment Medical;
- Documentation (national and flag state), Pre-departure Briefing;
- Supply of Uniform & Working Gear, Flight arrangements and Visas;
- De-Briefing upon Sign Off, Monitoring of Performance & Motivation;
- Shipboard Accounting including payments of Home Allotments and Final Wages;
- Arrangement of Cash to Master, Handling of P&I claims;
- Management of Seafarer’s Family Welfare, Handling of Ship’s Mail; &
- Liaison with Local Unions & ITF re CBAs, etc.

Based in Hong Kong, we maintain excellent relations with the local Marine Department and the seafaring unions (ITF affiliated). With many years experience, we are able to assist Owners with all aspects of ship registry here in Hong Kong, including ship and seafarer certification.
