Wallem’s
greatest strength is our pool of over 6000 regular seastaff.
Our manpower planning expertise adds value to your ship’s
operations by ensuring that we have the right number, of the
right people, in the right place, at the right time, thereby
allowing you to concentrate on the technical and commercial
areas of your organization.
We
recognise that you need capable, competent, well trained,
medically fit and highly motivated seastaff
on
board your ships – Wallem seafarers.
Our
belief is that seastaff are our most important asset, in terms
of optimizing safety and enhancing shipboard performance.
Recruited and selected with great skill and care, trained
in our own centres, we give them clear objectives and reinforce
this with feedback through our appraisal reporting procedures.
Traditionally,
we have employed large numbers of Indian officers and ratings,
our commitment to this quality manning source was re-emphasised
in 2005 with over a one
million US dollar upgrade of our training centre there
We
also have our own manning agency in Manila which meets our
ongoing supply and quality control needs from that large and
very important crew supply centre. From Russia we can offer
Ukrainian and Latvian seafarers as well as crews from other
Baltic states. We also have a recruitment centre in Constanza,
Romania, which we are increasingly utilizing for high quality
senior officers.
Chinese
seastaff are attracting much interest from Owners today, joint
venture with Cosco in Qingdao which ensures
that we have control over the quality and training of Chinese
seafarers, an opportunity which no other shipmanager presently
has. Wallem's initiatives to enhance the English language
capabilities of our PRC seastaff has further encouraged interest
from Owners particularly for the dry bulk and container trades,
and also, tankers.
